GREENING MY PRACTICE

When I searched for examples of green practices, I realized that most of these were already instilled in me when I was younger. There are various examples of what constitutes green practices, but what is more important is what doing these actions can bring to the table. In fact, green practices play a crucial role in tackling pressing environmental issues, reducing the impact of climate change, and preserving valuable resources. They are crucial for constructing a more sustainable, resilient, and healthier future. Green practices encourage individuals to adopt environmentally friendly habits and minimize their environmental impact.

Below are some of the practices I diligently and religiously follow.

Using reusable bottles

Reusable bottles have a significantly reduced environmental footprint compared to plastic water bottles. Another thing that highly encourages me to use my bottle instead is that my University encourages me to do so. Water refilling stations are free all over the campus; hence, it also helps me save money by utilizing my reusable bottle to refill water throughout the day.

Utilizing public transportation

Utilizing more public transportation services is one method of contributing to the preservation of natural resources and the fight against climate change. Compared to personal vehicle usage, increasing the amount of time spent on public transportation is one of the most effective strategies to reduce emissions and preserve the environment.

Unfortunately, I do not have many photos. At the same time, I use public transportation in Metro Manila, which can probably attributed to the fact that snatchers and danger are prevalent in Pasay and Manila. Moreover, it is so normalized that it feels odd to take photos of myself while using public transportation.

Reduce energy consumption

I would say that not many practices allow me to reduce my overall energy consumption compared to what can actually have an impact on Earth. For one, I ensure that all appliances are properly turned off before I leave for school. Second, I limit my usage of appliances when they are not in use. Lastly, my family and I make it a point to use LED light bulbs as they save on energy consumption and electricity bills. If we reduce the amount of energy we use, there will be less air and water pollution, which will benefit our planet and the people who live on it.

Living sustainably is becoming increasingly crucial. Making these modest adjustments can safeguard our natural resources and lessen the pollution that endangers human health and the environment. Thankfully, leading a sustainable lifestyle is easier than ever before.
